Is Diego Costa right in
complaining that he is targeted by Premier League refs and the fans?
He might be right in one way that they are
being too harsh on him but the fact is he made them harsh and his attitude and controversial
personality led these things to happen. So it is not about one party making
mastake and Costa is innocent because he is targeted especially by the refs.
Chelsea striker has a reputation
of making other players hostile and he regularly flirts with the line, which is
not accepted on the pitch at any cost. Despite that fact, he is still
complainting about the others which is somewhat odd in many sides of the story.
In an interview with ESPN
Brasil on Tuesday, Costa explained how he feels about the current situation:
“But I’ll be honest, I am
targeted here, by the referees, the people… if I do something, it’s totally
different then if any other players do. It needs to be seen, that people
targeted me. It’s something I have to deal with, and I ask God that these
things don’t disturb me and don’t take the sequence of the games from me, which
happen sometimes and gives me suspensions”.
Chelsea forward has missed
11 games for Chelsea through suspension since moving from Atletico Madrid in
2014.
His attitude in the Premier
League affects him with extra scrutiny putting onto him and focus on him is
more during the matches than any other player which is only because he largely
brings extra scrutiny on him because of his nudging on the pitch with the
players.
Pundits and the journalists
are becoming more harsh on him over their comments as they said it was Costa’s
foul after his challenge on the West Ham keeper Adrian and he should had been
sent off, but I think he was right to go for the ball and it wasn’t deliberate from
him over Adrian’s challenge.
Of course the irony for
Costa is the behavior that courts increase attention is the same behavior that
helps him one of the best forward in the Premier League.
