It’s not long ago when
Pakistan celebrated their memorable Lords test victory in style with push-ups
and slautes but in the second test they things changed and changed in a way
that England won the Old Trafford test by a comprehensive margin of 330 runs.
What
really bothers me is that in the first test, England fight for four days but
here at Old Trafford Pakistan lost from the very first day when England were
scoring runs easily thanks to Pakistani fielders who dropped some sitters and the batsmen capitalizes from the mistakes and scored centries. Question is why we
won the first test and exposed in the second test? I think we didn’t won the
first test, infact it was England who lost the Lords test with some
irresponsible batting.
So far in the 2 tests, only bright players in the
Pakistani team was Asad Shafiq and Yasir Shah apart from the skipper Misbah.
Other than that, not a single player have any contribution in the 2 tests not
even in the Lords test. Even in the Lords test we actually handed the match
into England’s grasp when we bowled out for just 215 runs in the second innings and gave them every opportunity to win the Lords test but it was Yasir Shah who
came in their way and Pakistan won the match. Other than that we didn’t
prepared ourselves to go for the second test with the positive frame of mind
and because of that we were comprehensively beaten. We should give English players credit because they also played some exceptional cricket in all the three formats, specially Joe Root who scored mammoth 254 in the first innings.
If we want to come back
strongly like England did in the second test, then we should be good in all the
three formats specially we have to take every little chance in the field that
comes in our way. Batting has been the serious concern for Pakistan and if they
want to compete at Edgbaston then their top order must take some responsibility
and put some runs on the board. The third test which starts from 3rd August will be crucial and a one to watch for as both teams tried to win it and take a huge advantage.
