Chelsea Will Push for Brazilian Starlet in January and Conte Says NO for Caceres

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Santos starlet Thiago Maia and are preparing a £15 million offer for the 19-year old.

Chelsea had also made contact in July with Santos about the availability of the midfielder but the Brazilians were reluctant to sell the player in the middle of the campaign. The already sell their key striker Gabriel Santos to Inter Milan and they could not afford to let go of another quality player.

Maia has a contract with Santos until 2019, and Chelsea will push for the player but it will not be straightforward for them to sign the Brazilian as Santos are expected to fight hard to keep him.

President of Santos were also traveled to England in the summer transfer window to discuss about Maia and Gabigol with the Premier League clubs, but they were not as interested to sign the due as the other clubs in Europe, with Paris-Saint Germain said to be the favorite to sign the midfielder Maia.

Maia has been Santos' top young talent for the past two seasons with his quick feet, incredible range and ability to slide into the box late. Santos cannot afford to lose another young talent as they already sold Gabigol to Inter Milan. Maia is a key contributor in the midfield for Santos who have lost three of their last four matches in the Brazilian League and this is just because of the Gabigol sale.

Elsewhere Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has turned down the chance to sign free agent Martin Caceres. The Uruguayan was successful under Conte at Turin but has struggled with injuries which played a role in Conte's decision. Instead, Chelsea eyeing on young German and Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule.
