AC Milan starts their new Serie A campaign with a 3-2 win over Torino through Donnarumma's brilliance. Inter Milan misery under continues and new boss Fank De Boer suffers defeat in his first match against Chievo Verona by 2-0, while last season runners-up Napoli drop points against Pescara as they came from behind to draw 2-2, thanks to second half brace from Dries Mertens.
AC Milan's striker Bacca put the team off to a flyer with his hat-trick but the main hero showed up late as Donnarumma saved vital injury time penalty to deny Atalanta's equalizer. This was Vincenzo Montella's first match as Milan manager and he starts his Milan era with a win.
First Bacca's header, his left-footed half volley and then a right footed penalty earns him first hat-trick of the season, and then Donnarumma's last minute heroics put the match to bed.
Valter Birsa brace stunned Inter as they lost their first match of the season against Chievo Verono by 2-0.
New boys Ever Benega and Antonio Candreva could not be able to save their team from losing a rather below average team early in the season. It was a physical game from the start as well as Inter kept a lot of sterile possession from the start but then comes out of the shell and starts playing with more of a grip in the match. But it was Chievo who takes the lead with Birsa's worderful piece of footwork struck the ball in the back of the net from 8 yards. Birsa then added another to make sure of the victory and sends Frank de Boer a welcoming defeat.
Dries Mertens saves Napoli in the opening weekend as he came off the bench and scores second half brace helped Partenopei to earn a point in their first match.
Napoli start a new life without their star striker Gonzalo Higuain and they struggled early on with two goals in quick succession from Pescara. Ahmed Benali and Caprari scored back to back goals to take surprising 2-0 lead against Napoli,
Sarri made a double change in the second half and they paid off as Dries Mertens two goals in three minutes helped Napoli back in the match. Milik forced a couple of saves, including one that Mertens tried to follow-up, but Pescara slung on.
