Mustafi to Arsenal Close but no Sign of Mahrez

It looks like Arsenal are on the verge of signing Valencia and German international Shkodran Mustafi with the news that they are ready to trigger player’s release clause of £43.5m. The 24 year old defender has been heavily linked with the Emirates and they badly wants a defender as their two main center backs Gabriel and Per Mertesackar received injury in the pre-season friendly. Arsene Wenger wants him in the squad before gameweek 1 against Liverpool clash on Sunday.

Meanwhile another Wenger target Riyad Mahrez seems Arsenal are struggling to meet Leicester City’s star man’s release clause of £50m. Arsenal offer £43m, some of them are potential add-ons for the Algerian international but city are not willing to let their star forward go below £50m.

Riyad Mahrez, who was surprisingly emerged and his sensational performance in the last season earned him PFA player of the year as well as helping Leicester City to win their first ever Barclays Premier League title. But yesterday reports emerged that the striker wants a move away from Leicester to make life more difficult for the current Champions Leicester. If this deal happens, then Leicester title defense could fall badly and it is not easy to replace that kind of a player.
