England missed the chance for a series whitewash as Pakistan bags first one-day win of the tour by four wickets in the fifth one-day international at Cardiff.
Chasing 303, Pakistan slipped to 77-3 before Sarfraz and Malik shared 163 for the fourth wicket. This is now the highest wicket partnership for fourth wicket by Pakistan against England in one-day.
Tourists get home with 10 balls to spare.
Earlier, England scored 302-9 courtesy of Jason Roy 87, and Ben Stokes 75, but they scored only 42 runs in the last eight overs. They were stifled by some fine pace bowling by Hasan Ali, who took 4-60, and Mohammad Amir 3-50.
England end the series on a 4-1 win over Pakistan, missing out on a first 5-0 whitewash at home. Pakistan outplayed throughout the series in all departments, were firmly on the back foot when Mark Wook took wickets of settled Babar Azam and Azhar Ali in the same over.
At that stage, Malik and Sarfraz combined to compile highest fourth wicket partnership of 163. Pakistan then lost three wickets in quick succession when Malik and Sarfraz trying to hit a big shot but caught on the boundary line on the bowling of debutant Liam Dawson and soon Jonny Bairstow direct hit ran out Muhammad Nawaz. Pakistan had lost three wickets for 26 runs.
With 37 still required, Mohammad Rizwan and Wales-born Imad Wasim absorbed th pressure and ensured there was no further drama. Pakistan finally won the match but England won the series by comprehensive 4-1 margin left Pakistan plenty to think about their one-day cricket.
