Burnley announce signing of
Belgian international Steven Defour from RSC Anderlecht for a club record
undisclosed fee.
The 28 years old has signed a three-year contract at the club
and becomes the fourth signing for the Clarets this summer.
46 international
capped player had initially won two domestic title during his time at Standard
Liege before moving to Portuguese giants FC Porto. He also won the Portuguese
title twice before making his switch back to his homeland with Anderlecht.
Defour
is delighted to join Burnley and wants to prove in the top-flight in English
football.
He said: “I hope I can
bring my experience to the team and the club to stay in the Premier League. It
is a new challenge for me, but I like that”.
There is no doubt his
experience will certainly be benefited for the Clarets and there is a wide open
chance that they will do good things with this fellow. Defour will wear number
16 at Turf Moor.
