Super Mario signed for Wolves

German international striker and former Stuttgart and Bayern Munich player Mario Gomes has completed his move to Wolfsburg from Italian side Fiorentina.

The former Bayern striker returned to Bundesliga after three years away from German league. Previously he scored 138 goals in 236 apperaces for both Bayern and Stuttgart before moving to Fiorentina in 2014.

Here are the top 5 goals of Mario Gomez.

The 31-year old striker played his last season for Turkish side Basiktas on loan where he scored 26 goals. Turkish champions might sign Mario on permanent deal but uncertain situation in Turkey following failed military coup convinced him to find a club outside Turkey.

“I’m looking forward to the new challenge. The discussions with (sporting director) Klaus Allofs and (head coach) Dieter Hecking were very good. I’m very happy to be returning to the Bundesliga. I’d like to play in Europe with VFL and I’m convinced we can do so”, Gomez told the Wolves’ official website after joining.

Gomez won the Bundesliga with his hometown club Stuttgart in 2007, whom he represented for six years from 2003 to 2009.

He then moved to Bayern Munich, winning treble with them in 2013.

The nicknamed Super Mario played for Germany 68 times, scoring 29 goals including two goals for Germany in the 2016 UEFA Euro.

Gomez is a very good addition to the squad and he can help them back to the Champions League.
