Gold for Nadal


Rafael Nadal already won the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and he is on his way to win another in the singles title but before that he already won another gold at the Rio in the men’s doubles. For now he stands with Chile’s Nicolas Massu as the only player to have won Gold medal in both the singles and the doubles. The final was a match to watch from start to finish as both the teams fight rigorously and after 2 hours and 26 minutes, Nadal and Lopez finally overcome Mergea and Tecau 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

After the match Nadal said “I play with passion, with emotion and it’s a very special event; a unique event for everybody”.

Earlier today, the Spainiard thrashed Brazilian No.1 Thomaz Bellucci 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the semi-final of the men singles against Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina.

In football Germany beat Portugal in the quarter final by huge margin of 4-0. Serge Gnabry opens the scoring for Germany right at the start off the second half in the 46th minute for 1-0 lead, which further extended by Matthias Ginter in the 57th minute. David Selke 75th min and Philipp Max in the 87th minute strike make sure of the Gemany’s place in the semi-final of the Rio.


In the Men’s Heavy 91 Kg Boxing, Russian boxer Evgeny Tishchenko beat Rustam Tulaganov of Uzbekistan by beating in all the 3 rounds scoring 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 to reach the final.
