Ligue 1 of the French
league starts today as the 2016/17 season set to underway their new campaign in
the Gameweek 1. SC Bastia will host champions PSG in the first match at Stade
Armand Césari stadium.
PSG will be without their last season’s top goalscorer
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who left PSG for Manchester United on a free transfer. But there
are some new signings which hopefully will have good impact on the teams with
the likes of Hatem Ben Arfa, Thomas Mounier and Krychowiak and also with their
new manager Unai Emery, who left Sevilla for PSG after 3 consecutive Europa
League trophies with them.
Monaco kick start their campaign today against Guingamp
and looking to give PSG tough competition for the title. 5 matches will be
played tomorrow with an important match between Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne as
both will be competing for Europe. Bordeaux finished their last campaign at 11th
spot with 50 points which is certainly below their expectations and they will
surely looks to improve on that in the upcoming season.
Gameweek 1 will be
completed with 3 matches played on Sunday as newly promoted Nancy welcomes last
season’s runners-up Olympique- Lyonnais who
looks to kick start their campaign with a win to show their intent for the
Ligue 1 title. Olympique Marseille against Toulouse will be the last match of
the Gameweek 1 as both teams came from a disastrous last season campaign
finished 13th and 17th respectively.
