Great Britain’s Andy Murray
punched his ticket to the 2016 Rio Olympics semifinals with a hard fought
victory against United States’ Steve Johnson 6-0, 4-6, 7-6. Murray was narrowly
escaped in the third round match against Itlay’s Fabio Fognini and same thing
happened to him again in the quarter final but he manage to win in a thrilling
final.
The American was looking out-of-sorts in the early losing without
winning a single game by 6-0, but came back strongly in the second set and
level the match after the second set to one set apiece.
Johnson came close to a
memorable comeback win against the world number 2 but failed to capitalize on
the biggest match of his single career. The champion of London Olympics finally
finds a way to win in the end by 7-6 in the third set.
