Yesterday’s Manchester
United win over Southampton was the United’s second win in a row under new
manager Jose Morinho and it clearly looks like a different team all together.
The arrival of quality
players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba certainly lift United from the
bottom and it looks like they are on purpose for something special. Who would
have thought till last season that Pogba and Ibrahimovic will play together
with Manchester United in the 2016/17 season, but things have changed and it
all worked fantastically for Manchester United.
Certainly a new era of
United football has started and this team is hard to beat and it really needs
something special to beat with the likes of Mkhitaryan, Rooney, Mata, Martial,
Ibra, Pogba and others.
Manchester United outclass
Southampton in every department at Old Trafford thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic
brace.
The Saints kept United busy
but rather toothless as Claude Puel’s men still searching for their first win
in the league.
Manchester United got the
first goal just after half an hour in the first half when Rooney’s delightful
cross from the right meets the header of Zlatan who rose high above Jose Fonte
to put the ball in the net.
The second goal came in the
second half when Luke Show won a penalty for Ibrahimovic to double United’s
lead from the spot in the 52nd min. Zlatan Ibrahimovic also scored 5
goals in 2 league apps verses Claude Peul’s Nice last season.
Any lingering concerns over
whether Ibrahimovic, 34, would have been signs of rust after moving to England looks
to be dismissed.
Another importance to this
match is the arrival of big money man Paul Pogba, who despite his shaky start,
was a night to remember for Pogba as the Theatre of Dreams welcomed the
prodigal son back to his professional home.
Ibrahimovic may have scored
all goals on Friday night but there was another featuring prominently for his
side, who stole some headlines of his own.
